“A Sergeant’s War”

A Sergeant’s War is a new set of war game rules for small unit combat in WWII written by Nathaniel Weber and available as a PDF from the Wargame Vault, priced at $11.99.

A Sergeant's WarYou might even recognize some of those US Marines pictured on the cover.

I’ve not had a change to take these rules for a spin yet, but Nathaniel has posted a nice write up over on the The Miniatures Page. so be sure to pop on over and have a read.

You will be seeing more from Nathaniel in the form of pictures; he has completed a couple of painting projects for us with at least one more in the pipeline. We will be posting pictures in the near future…

A bit of this and a bit of that…

Just a quick update today. First, we have enabled Commenting on New posts. Comments remain open for 14 days from the date of a new post. Comments will be moderated in an effort to keep undesired (robo generated) comments out of the mix. Please feel free to comment on our postings.

Next up is our February Sale. This time around we are offering a nearly 30% discount on Resistant Roosters USMC figure packs. Be sure to visit the Specials page or Resistant Roosters website for more details.

We are still a bit behind on casting, mostly due to our unusually cold weather. The weekend did not go as well as planned (between Liam’s Forensics competition and unplanned barn repairs) as a result my shop hours were reduced for the expected number of hours. We still were able to get a number of projects completed and orders shipped out, just not as many as planned. Another week, and we may be caught up!

I was able to fit in a little bit of work on one of my ‘Flat Terrain‘ projects. First up is a small group of buildings for use with my N-Gauge Napoleonic games (they will work just fine for WWII in Europe too). I made a couple of silly mistakes (like having the clamp too tight when gluing some pieces together), but overall the project is coming along as well as hoped. As soon as I can sort out some problems we are having with the camera I’ll be sure to get some pictures posted as well as a write up on the project itself.

Our camera problems are also holding up some new figure releases – it just makes sense to have pictures for new figures when they release. I’ll be trying to sort out camera issues (both cameras) tonight with hopes of getting some pictures to post tomorrow or Wednesday).

Check back soon, for more news.

Early War Germans II

Way back in August we posted the first pictures of our new Resistant Roosters Early War Germans with a promise to post more pictures once the second batch was in…

Processing the second batch took longer than planned, so pictures have been delayed until now. Once again Randy F. took brush in hand to paint up a set of samples for us. Here now is a peek at our new figures (early war Germans in helmet) as painted by Randy:

I’m finishing up the production molds and will have the first sets available at Rock-Con next week.

Our new figure development process will allow for lower pricing on these (and future) new platoon packs. Check back next week for final pricing on the new Early War German Platoon packs.

Those of you interested in such things as product budgeting and such migth be interested to know that this was our first project with a real budget. Not was it our first with a budget, it was our first to come in on budget! Inital numbers were showing us over budget by $5 to $10, but a second look shows that we brought this one in on (perhaps even a little under) budget…

This, That and Some Other Stuff…

It has been a little bit since my last post, so I thought I’d fill the gap with a small batch of miscellaneous updates…

My article on Medieval War Games is almost done, a couple of misplaced files have been recovered, so I should have this one done by the end of the week.

Randy finished painting samples of the the new Early War Germans late last week. He mailed them out on Friday, so I should have them in hand today or tomorrow. I’ll shoot some photos as soon as I have these in hand. Look for an official release of the new Resistant Roosters Platoon Packs (team packs too) at Rock-Con later this month.

SPAM levels are increasing, and this is slowing down our email response times (if I crank up the filters too much we start loosing emails – slow response is better than no response).

Look For a new Blasted Planets release at Rock-Con – I have a few different things in mind, we will just have to see what gets molded before the convention.

On the Bloodaxe Miniatures front, I’ve finally finished the last of the molds for the 1914 Russians in Fur Cap. I’ll shoot photos of these figures when shooting photos of the Resistant Roosters WWII Germans. We migth be able to squeeze in one more Bloodaxe Minaitures release before the end of the year. The mold making shop is busy with custom work, but I’ll see if we can finish the Adowa (First Italo–Ethiopian War) molds before the end of December.

Completed a new mold for [Scruby Miniatures] NN-60: N-gauge, Napoleonic French Fusilier, Marching, Slung Musket (looks more like at the carry to me). I started with the original master figure and created a nice, clean new set of pattern figures for use in the new production mold. NN-60 has never looked better!

Alison is a bit backed up in the shop – a hard disk problem caused a few mixups in work orders, so she had to re-do a few orders. I think I have the problem sorted out, so we should be good going forward. Well, that should about do it for today. Look for at least one more post later this week…
