Mafrica – Printing Hiccup

Major edit to previous post…

We hit a bit of a snag on our recent Mafrica print run. In short the resulting prints were not as expected.
I’ll skip all the technical details, but needless to say, a software (or driver) update somewhere along the line appears to be the culprit.

This picture shows the problem.

Left: what the print should look like. The Right: as printed.

After several longish phone conversations, we were resolved to go the long nasty route to settle the issue. But, within 10 minutes of my last call, the owner of the printing company called me to say that he will take care of this problem.

So, now I’m happy to say that we still have a printer and that we will be receiving a new set of maps late next week.

We are sorry this has taken so long, but now you can see why we didn’t want to charge folks before we had good prints in hand.
Thank you to all who wrote in to pre-order, you should have your maps in hand before the 15th of January (overseas deliveries will take a little longer)

New Mailing Address

As part of our 2012 cost cutting program, we have switched to a smaller Post Office Box, this has resulted in a new mailing address. The new adress is:

HistoriFigs
P.O. Box 744
Portage, WI 53901

Over then next few days we will finish updating online documents and web sites.

More news as we roll along…

Updates and Info

Just a couple of quick items today.

  1. Mafrica map print order has been submitted to our printer.
Status us still pending. Best guess at this time is that printing will be completed by the end of the month, a bit longer than expected.
  2. The Historifigs web site will be moving to a new server in the near future. I haven’t set a date just yet, but for sure by early January.
We will be shuffling servers a few times as we consolidate and ultimately move our web hosting in house. We hope to keep the interruption as brief as possible.

Lots of projects wrapping up here at HistoriFigs HQ. Look for at least one more update in 2011.

Mafrica Update!

Mafrica

Mafrica, a mythical map – in ‘birds eye’ perspective – of the continent ‘Mafrica’ – a place where native tribes lurk to stop your colonial expansion. Perfect for war gaming in the African Colonial period of 1880.

A number of you have written in to requesting Mafrica maps. As such it is time for another (the 4th) print run. If you are wanting a Mafrica map, please let us know (even if you have requested a copy in the not too distant past), we want to be sure to print enough copies (but not too many). We expect to place our print order by the end of next week (9 December).

The 18” x 24” maps will be printed on coated (not glossy) poster stock and will be priced at $17.00 each (plus postage) and are shipped rolled in a sturdy mailing tube. Shipping to addresses in the United States will be $3.00 – International shipping is $8.00 (for international customers, we can ship the map folded rather than rolled, shipping for folded maps is $4.00).

Should you wish to commit to a purchase in advance of our printing we can provide you with a special discounted price of $15.00 each (plus postage). Deadline for this discount will expire on December 8th 2011

After our long silence, we have plenty of news and views to share, so be sure to check back for the latest from HistoriFigs.
